Sportsnet One Not Available to All Canadians

Canada is filled with sports fans. Naturally NHL hockey rules as the number one sport in Canada. There is basketball, football and Blue Jays baseball. Things have changed this summer.

Sportsnet One was opened on August 14th. It promised baseball with the Jays, basketball with the Toronto Raptors, soccer from Barcleys League and definitely hockey, covering the six Canadian National Hockey League teams. Rogers who own Sportsnet and the Blue Jays and the Rogers center needed to open up one more channel to handle the overflow, in particular the Blue Jays baseball games. Before the new Sportsnet One opened, they had four channels, based out of Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto and Ottawa.

But if you don’t have Rogers service which isn’t available to all Canadians, the new Sportsnet One isn’t available. It comes down to 1 of 2 possible reasons. Either Rogers isn’t supplying the channel to other providers or the other providers won’t allow them to place the channel on their system. Poof! There goes 35 Jays baseball games as well as some Toronto Raptors games and lots of hockey, not to mention soccer with Barcleys League.

Imagine sailing a luxury yacht.
